An English Prom and the King's Theatre

It's Prom and the whole town turns out. This is a custom that England has adopted from us actually. However, the differing in the customs from what I have seen is that when Prom happens in England, it is a big ordeal and a wonderful celebration.

All of the young girls are dressed up like princesses with tiara's and beautiful gowns.

There seems to be a custom that you show up in the most attention-getting vehicle.
This one is a an army green stretch hummer.

The wraps around the block and out of site.

There is great enthusiasm. The younger classmate eagerly await the next princess, dreaming of their own day in the sun.

This was actually Carla's boy. How we ever found him in the crowd...had to be a mother's intuition.

Each young lady, tastefully dressed...with their tiara on.

As I never went to prom, I found myself dreaming. With my hair all done up perfectly. A beautiful yellow or pink flowing gown that would tastefully show off my figure. Make-up donned to perfection, giving me a heathy - awe-inspiring glow. And of course, my own tiny tiara.

But instead of a convertible, I want a white carriage pulled by a single white horse.

This young man was kind enough to allow me to take his picture. What the camera isn't showing very clearly is that he has swirling contacts like the little puppet in Saw.

It was so delightful that we 'happened' upon this Prom. Maybe in different states Prom means something different but from what I have witnessed, half of the participants don't dress up and the town gives a sigh of tolerance rather than wistful.

Oh to have seen the inside of the school.

Our guest got us tickets to see a Scottish comedian. Off we go down the road to the King's Theatre. So of course I'm taking pictures through the windows. I love these old houses.

This is just so England...I love it!

I believe I fell in love with England.....because I was heart broken to leave it.

I just thought this was pretty.

Those of you who know me won't be surprised that I got in trouble taking these pictures. (he he he...didn't travel across the ocean to leave memories here)

What can I say? I couldn't understand the woman chastising me anyhow. The comedian was hilarious as well! But look at this molding...this is an old theatre...it was just beautiful.

Sadly, the next morning, we had to head back home. We offered to stay in a hotel in London so our guests didn't have to get up at dark-thirty but they insisted. Down the wrong side of the road we go......

It's like being on top of the world.

Of course there were many other's snapped off during the flight...however, there is only so much room before a person loses interest and quits reading. You are still here....right?

The airline has this little map for you to watch where over the ocean you are. Today, I'm sure they charge a fee for watching this....probably $19.95....exact change please.

This was a welcome site. My favorite city (so far) in all the world. New York, New York.

To end this adventure, let's recap on London Bridges Falling Down...from London!
