Now realize that I have had a couple goals for England, one was the food. I got to eat in a tea house, have scones with clotted cream (see following blogs), but this was breakfast. From the top left we have flapjacks. Below that is hot-cross buns. Next to that is crumpets. They like to put marmalade and marmite on their crumpets. I have to be honest, when I had the hot-cross buns, all I could hear was my daughters playing the song on their recorders.
So we wake up on a beautiful day and decide that we are going to go for a walk through Gosport. We make sure to don our pretty hats...
Then we had to stop by the store for some supplies first. I wish that I had something to compare to this in size but it's 150 ml of soda. These are little tiny cokes, they were so cute!
Can you believe this? It's not under glass, it's not under plastic, it's just right out there for everyone to see, feel, breathe upon, touch, sniff.....in all honesty, it was pretty neat.
Bring it home and put it in the freezer. Not kidding, this is the freezer door. They got little suggestions on what temp settings to have things on. How quaint!
Put the fish in the freezer and the cokes in the fridge. I just thought this was so neat!
You know me, in love with those yellow fields.....
No kidding. We stopped to get some petrol and since this isn't what it looks like at home...of COURSE I had to have a picture. Can you believe this? Disposable gloves? Why don't we have these? Keep the stinky gas smell of our fingers. There's even an age limit for gas. Not for drinking, per se` for they can drink before they can legally drive. But petrol....got a license for that?
These little houses are so quaint! I just love the style of the brick combined with the color. It's beautiful!
Keep in mind I shot this through the front window and had to do a bit of editing to remove the car. This house looks like it just came out of a Hans and Gretel story.
We get to where we are going and take a walk out on the beach. It was such a beautiful day and being a weekend, everyone else was out as well. Those precious little children are grandchildren. Can you believe anyone in this pic would be old enough? You should have heard that precious little voice from that little angel holding her grandpa's hand. In her adorable English accent she'd ask, "Grand dad, why? Grand dad, what is this? Grand dad, can I have some icecream?"
They have the BEST icecream! It has so much flavor. The most popular is to have a soft serve cone with a flake in it. A flake is this wonderful Cadbury's chocolate poured extremely thin and scraped into the shape of a long rectangle. YUM! I brought some home for the kids and special friends. (if you have one, you're special...)
The ocean is absolutely beautiful! I feel instantly in love with it. How is it that sail boats are so captivating?
These are the kind of pictures that should be printed full size and framed. I can hear the ocean looking at this picture. The smell of the sea. The warmth of the sun. The breeze picking up the ends of my hair. (sigh) I am SO going back.
This picture does not give the view justice.
We turn down a sidewalk and there are a group of people flying kites.
You should watch these people with these kites. Oh wait! You can!Look, I figured out how to add video to my blog.
We turned down a little alley to go of course....
To a pub. This one was a little different for it was dark on the inside where as the others were much more open to light.
This is one of the little stores that we found when walking around.
There was a large outdoor market. I actually took this picture because Woolworths was in it. Can you imagine...this whole time I had poison oak. In England, they don't get poison oak, poison ivy, or poison sumac. You can imagine the looks I got with this spread all down my arm.
This was one of the bakery's on the street. A little Cinderella's carriage.
This makes me think of the movie My Fair Lady. Guess after all this time, they are still selling flowers on the street.
On this site stood the Gosport Congregational Church from the year 1785 to 1941 when it was destroyed by enemy action. Dr. Bogue, Chief founder of the London Missionary society Mistered here for 40 years.
While I was walking down the sidewalk I happened to catch site of this. How picturesque is this?
Of course we found a fish store. That plaid fish on the rock...what is that?
How pretty are these?
This picture of these sea horses came out so incredibly well. Mark this on the list for tank mates of our future salt water tank.
