Okay, mom Mom has been talking about this George fellow for nigh on 2 years as far as I'm concerned. She goes into surgery and is off work for 6 weeks, he takes her out every day to do something. 'Just to spend time' as my Mom would put it.
I ask her, Mom, what's up with this George fellow? Nothing, we're just friends. Yeah, right, I say. Uh-huh, I've used that one. Sooo, the fact he drives you up to IN from GA and then continues on to MI means nothing. Or how about the fact that to drop you off and pick you up at my house is out of his way? This is just a friendship? Wish there were more 'friends' like that in the world. It would be a much better place.
This George fellow. I met him once, maybe twice. Looks just like my Uncle Wayne. I only hear all good about him. This is good, since he's spending so much time with my Mom. (only friends) Till she comes up (they) this summer and she asks, "How would you feel if I got married?" I answered honestly, "If he's a good man Mom, I'm all for it. You should be happy." Then I had to add, "It's George isn't it? You haven't been completely honest with me now have you?"
The day before my anniversary I get this phone call in my office, Mom all out of breath, "I got engaged!" "I'm assuming this is to George?" "Yes."
Did I mention my Mom is the type of person to be late for her own funeral? So never gets in a rush or a hurry.....well, except when she's driving.
take over.I meet George's sister Mary. LIKED MARY! She needs to live closer as well. So I shake hands, "How good are you at telling people what to do?" I put her in charge of Mom. I take Mom's cell phone and slide it in my pocket, take her list and point the two of them (they are just alike) to the preacher again. Get busy!!
Mary, I'm told, did excellent. Mom ran into people, she guided her to where she needed to be. Good job Mary! Very proud of you!!
My Aunts. Now I like my Aunts. They are very gifted in the creative fashion. Plus they have been praying for George and Mom to get married for over 2 years. Put them in charge of some things. My family and I picked up a few things. I was putting her veil together as the music was playing. Here I am putting this on my Mother's head thinking that some day I may get the honor of doing the same for my daughters,

GO MOM!
Congratulations to the two of you!
